Future Career Success for college students depends on having a mentor and an internship

-------For immediate release-----

February 23, 2023

Having a mentor and gaining an internship remain the keys to future career success for college students, and at Alabama State University, students are fortunate to rely on Kim Smith, Instructor of Management at ASU (second from right), who has guided students for several years with her “Business Orientation” and “Internship in Business” classes.

On Thursday evening at Venue 901, Kim Smith will greet several students, who will gather to hear more. Hosted by the Principle Quest Foundation, at this event students will learn about the extensive and free curricula offered by Forte Foundation, which partners with Alabama State University to aid students interested in business.

To keep things lively, students will engage in sharing what three qualities make them the ideal intern. In pairs, the students will compare answers and tell a story to illustrate one or more of the qualities.

Capping off the evening will be a presentation by Lawrese Brown, (far left) Founder and CEO of CTrack Training, who will describe three tips and three common traps when interviewing for an internship. In today’s competitive environment for winning an internship, students will have an advantage – first, by being mentored by Kim Smith, secondly, by joining Forte Foundation’s robust membership, and just as importantly, hearing from an expert in communications who will give pointers to ensure that the interview succeeds.
